Restoration Druid Guide

S raidB m+updated 2026-06-18

Restoration Druid is Midnight's premier raid healer: a HoT-stacking machine with the best effective mana in the game and the cleanest ramp-to-spike-healing toolkit. By pre-loading Rejuvenations and unloading Tranquility / Incarnation / Convoke into a damage event, it produces enormous proactive throughput cheaply, which is why it sits at S for raid. In Mythic+ it ranges Bโ€“S by source โ€” its passive HoT healing and damage are excellent, but it lacks the panic-button single-target saves and immediate burst other healers bring, so it leans on planning rather than reaction.

Keeper of the GroveRaidThe reliable, throughput-forward tree. Grove Guardians now proc automatically from Swiftmend and Wild Growth (no manual charge-banking) and each stacks a healing increase; Cenarius' Guidance feeds extra Grove Guardians and mini-Tranquility procs into your ramp. Best for consistent raid healing and squeezing more out of cooldowns.
WildstalkerMythic+Built around the Symbiotic Blooms HoT, which both heals and amplifies all healing the target takes while adding Mastery value. Mostly passive โ€” you benefit without playing into it. Strong concentrated single-target healing for M+; slightly weaker in raid after proc-rate tuning.

๐ŸŽฒ Bonus Roll Targets where to spend Nebulous Voidcores

As of Patch 12.0.5, the Nebulous Voidcore lets you target gear via Bonus Loot rolls after Season 1 Raid bosses, Mythic+ dungeons, Bountiful Delves, and Nightmare Prey Hunts โ€” the controlled way to build Resto's gear over the season. A Bonus Roll after a M+ dungeon awards the Great Vault item level for that keystone level, so +10 and above can give 1/6 Myth-track pieces. Resto wants the highest item level in every slot outside trinkets/tier, favoring Haste/Mastery, so spend weekly cores on your best trinket, your Wild Growth tier set, and high-ilvl Sporefused armor.

1
Chimaerus Raid
Your BiS trinket from this boss
Top priority. your BiS trinket (Mastery plus strong primary-stat procs) is the standout raid trinket for Resto โ€” keep rolling Mythic Chimaerus until it drops before chasing anything else.
2
Rotmire Raid
Sporefused armor (item-level upgrades; avoid Sporecaller's Blooming Loop)
Mythic Rotmire / Sporefall pieces drop at a high item level, and Resto just wants the highest ilvl Haste/Mastery gear in every armor slot. A safe roll as long as you dodge Sporecaller's Blooming Loop โ€” it bumps your baseline Intellect across the board.
3
The Seat of the Triumvirate Mythic+
Tier-token / Myth-track armor slots
Best M+ roll target โ€” catalyze the Sprouts of the Luminous Bloom set (2pc Wild Growth +25%, 4pc cheaper/faster Wild Growth), the bonuses that reward the spell you already cast on cooldown. Rolls pay out at your keystone's Great Vault item level, so push +10 or higher for Myth-track.
4
Maisara Caverns Mythic+
Best-available M+ trinket / high-ilvl Intellect piece
A secondary M+ target while you wait on Gaze โ€” roll for a high-ilvl Intellect armor piece or the dungeon's healer trinket. Lower priority than completing tier and landing Gaze, but a fine ilvl filler.
๐Ÿ’ก Roll where the useful loot table is smallest โ€” a boss whose table is mostly the trinket or tier you want gives far better odds than one with ten items you'll vendor. Pick the toggle for the content you actually run.

๐Ÿš€ Opener & Pull Ramp

Resto never reacts to the pull โ€” it pre-loads. Get your free maintenance HoTs and Efflorescence rolling before the first hit so passive healing is already ticking, lay a thin Rejuvenation bed, then weave damage while the group is healthy. Hold Tranquility, Incarnation and Convoke for the fight's first scripted spike, not the pull itself.

  1. A few seconds before the pull, cast Lifebloom on the tank so the bloom and (with Lifetreading) your Efflorescence anchor are already set
  2. Drop Efflorescence under where the group will stack โ€” it's your cheapest healing and should be live before the first hit
  3. Pre-seed Rejuvenation on the tank and anyone soaking the opening damage so a HoT bed is already ticking
  4. Cast Wild Growth into the group right as the pull lands for an instant raid-wide HoT (your tier set makes this cheap and strong)
  5. Use Swiftmend on the tank to proc Soul of the Forest + a Grove Guardian, then follow with Regrowth if a real spike appears
  6. Open your damage with Sunfire/Moonfire then hard-cast Wrath while everyone is topped so you bank mana and meter
  7. Hold Incarnation, Tranquility and Convoke for the first real damage event โ€” burning them on the pull wastes your biggest ramp

๐ŸŒฟ Healing & Damage Priority

Resto is a maintenance-and-ramp spec, not a whack-a-mole healer. Keep your cheap HoTs rolling, build a bed of Rejuvenations before known damage, and weave damage when healing is light. Crit is irrelevant because Abundance already gives Regrowth ~100% crit โ€” value comes from HoT coverage, not big single casts.

  1. Keep Lifebloom up on yourself or the tank (refresh in its last ~4.5s to trigger the bloom); with Lifetreading, Efflorescence follows your Lifebloom target
  2. Maintain Efflorescence under the group โ€” best mana-to-healing ratio in the kit, near-100% uptime
  3. Cast Swiftmend on cooldown (procs Soul of the Forest + a Grove Guardian) and immediately follow with Regrowth or Rejuvenation
  4. Use Wild Growth for incoming raid-wide / AoE damage (your tier set buffs it โ€” press it often)
  5. Spread Rejuvenation pre-damage to build toward 10-12 active HoTs; that lights up Abundance for free, crit-guaranteed Regrowths
  6. Spot-heal spikes: Swiftmend + Regrowth, then Nature's Swiftness + Regrowth, then bare Regrowth
  7. When healing is covered, do DAMAGE: keep Sunfire/Moonfire up and hard-cast Wrath (single) or Starfire (AoE) โ€” or Catweave (Rake โ†’ Rip โ†’ Shred/Swipe) for higher output
  8. Refresh HoTs and dump spare GCDs into damage rather than overhealing

๐Ÿ’ฅ Raid Ramp & AoE Healing

The signature Resto play: ramp a HoT bed BEFORE scripted raid damage, then unload cooldowns that multiply that bed as the hit lands. Rejuvenation is the ramp engine; Tranquility, Convoke and Flourish pay it off. Spread your big cooldowns across separate damage events rather than stacking them on one spike.

  1. ~10-15s before a known raid hit, blanket the raid with Rejuvenation until you have ~10-12 active HoTs (this also lights Abundance for crit-guaranteed Regrowths)
  2. Pop Incarnation: Tree of Life (and Innervate) just before the ramp so the whole bed is cheaper and Wild Growth hits extra targets
  3. Keep Efflorescence under the stack and refresh Lifebloom so your two highest-value buffs never drop mid-ramp
  4. As the damage lands, press Wild Growth and channel Tranquility for the raid-wide burst โ€” note Tranquility now applies Flourish in 12.0.7
  5. Convoke the Spirits into the hit for a massive throughput dump (it fires Wild Growth, Swiftmend, Rejuvenation and mini-Tranquilities with Cenarius' Guidance)
  6. Flourish at the PEAK of the ramp โ€” most HoTs out โ€” to extend the entire bed; never on an empty board
  7. Keep Swiftmend on cooldown through the window to stack Grove Guardians / Reforestation, and Ironbark the tank for a buster inside the event

โฑ๏ธ Cooldowns

Resto's strength is layering cheap cooldowns onto a pre-built HoT bed. Ramp first (5-8s of Rejuvenations), then unload. Don't dump everything blind โ€” line cooldowns up with the boss's scripted raid damage.

Tranquility~2 min (Inner Peace)
Channeled raid-wide heal and your biggest single button. Extends ALL your active HoTs by 10s as it ticks, so always ramp Rejuvenations first. Inner Peace adds knockback immunity + 20% damage reduction while channeling.
Incarnation: Tree of Life~3 min (effective ~1m40s with CDR)
+10% healing, instant Regrowths, extra Wild Growth targets, cheaper Wild Growth and +20% Wrath damage. Pop it BEFORE your Rejuvenation ramp so the whole ramp is cheaper and stronger.
Convoke the Spirits~1 min
Channels a burst of random Druid spells โ€” heavily weighted to healing in Resto. With Cenarius' Guidance it can fire mini-Tranquilities and summon Grove Guardians. Massive throughput on a short CD; pair with Incarnation when possible.
Flourish~1.5 min (talent)
Instantly extends the duration of every active HoT and hastes their ticks briefly. Use it at the PEAK of a ramp (most HoTs out) to multiply value โ€” never on an empty board.
Grove Guardianspassive (Keeper)
Treant healers summoned automatically by Swiftmend and Wild Growth. Each active Guardian stacks an increase to your healing โ€” keep Swiftmend on CD to keep them up during burst windows.
Nature's Swiftness~1 min
Your only true instant-cast emergency: makes the next Regrowth instant and stronger. Hold it for a single-target near-death moment rather than burning it on cooldown.
Innervate~3 min
Free spellcasting for 8s. Use it early and often โ€” line it up with your ramp / Incarnation window so an expensive burst of casts costs no mana.
Ironbark~1.5 min
External: -20% damage taken on an ally for 12s. Your tank/spot cooldown โ€” assign it to tank busters or a targeted player.

๐Ÿฉน Core Healing Spells

Your bread-and-butter heals and what each is for. Lead with the cheap, proactive HoTs and save the expensive reactive casts for real spikes.

Rejuvenationinstant HoT
The ramp engine โ€” a cheap instant HoT you blanket across the raid before damage. Each active Rejuv counts toward your Mastery and lights up Abundance; pre-damage it is gold, random topping is waste.
Regrowthburst heal (Abundance crit)
Your expensive spike heal, but crit-guaranteed via Abundance so it hits hard. Reserve it for real single-target spikes or pair it with Swiftmend / Nature's Swiftness for an instant.
Wild Growthinstant AoE HoT
Instant raid-wide smart HoT and your main AoE button. Your tier set buffs its healing and cuts its cooldown, so press it on cooldown into incoming AoE.
Lifebloommaintenance HoT
Keep it on the tank (or yourself); refresh in its last ~4.5s to trigger the bloom, and with Lifetreading your Efflorescence follows the Lifebloom target.
Swiftmendinstant + procs
Instant heal that consumes a HoT and procs Soul of the Forest (free buffed Wild Growth/Regrowth) plus a Grove Guardian. Keep it on cooldown โ€” it's a throughput button, not just a save.
Efflorescenceground AoE
Your most mana-efficient healing per point โ€” a ground pool under the stack with near-100% uptime. Keep it down always; it is nearly free throughput.
Tranquilitychanneled raid heal
Your biggest single button โ€” channeled raid-wide healing that (in 12.0.7) also applies Flourish to extend your HoT bed. Always ramp Rejuvenations first.
Cenarion Wardpre-shield HoT
Place it on the tank or a soaker before predictable damage; the first hit consumes it into a strong burst HoT. A cheap, proactive spot tool.

๐Ÿ’ง Mana, Triage & Ramp

Resto has the best effective mana of any healer โ€” but only if you respect what each spell costs. The kit is built so that cheap, proactive HoTs do most of the work and expensive reactive casts are the exception.

  • Efflorescence - your most mana-efficient healing per point. Keep it down always; it is nearly free throughput.
  • Rejuvenation - cheap and the core of every ramp, but spammed mindlessly it drains you. Pre-damage = good; random topping = waste.
  • Regrowth - your expensive heal. It is crit-guaranteed via Abundance, so it hits hard, but only press it for real spikes or with Swiftmend / Nature's Swiftness.
  • Wrath / damage - casting damage returns mana via Master Shapeshifter and adds to your meters. When the raid is healthy, you should be doing damage, not overhealing.

The ramp (your signature play):

  1. ~8-10s before a known damage event, pop Incarnation (and Innervate) so the ramp is cheap.
  2. Blanket the raid with Rejuvenation until you have ~10-12 active HoTs (Abundance now gives Regrowth full crit).
  3. Refresh Lifebloom and place Efflorescence, keep Wild Growth rolling.
  4. As the damage lands, channel Tranquility (extends every HoT +10s) and/or Convoke, then Flourish at the peak to stretch the whole bed.
๐Ÿ’ก Triage rule: heal the spike with HoTs + Swiftmend, not by hard-casting Regrowth on everything. If your green numbers are mostly overhealing, switch to damage and let the HoTs tick.
โš ๏ธ The most common mana death: panic-spamming Regrowth and Rejuvenation reactively with no HoT bed. Resto cannot out-react damage like a Holy Paladin โ€” it must pre-ramp. If you find yourself reacting constantly, you ramped too late.

๐Ÿ’š Personal Defensives

Resto is among the tankier healers thanks to form-shifting and Barkskin. Pre-empt predictable hits on you with these so you can keep casting instead of scrambling to self-heal.

Barkskin~45s, off GCD
Your bread-and-butter mitigation โ€” 20% damage reduction, off the GCD, usable while CC'd and without interrupting a cast. Press it on every predictable hit aimed at you; the short cooldown means you should rarely sit on it.
Survival Instincts~3 min
A big ~50% damage reduction for a serious hit. Save it for the heavy melee/AoE spikes that Barkskin alone won't cover, or stack the two for an unavoidable buster.
Bear Forminstant, no cost
Shift to Bear for a huge armor and stamina wall when you're about to eat physical burst. You can't heal in Bear, so use it for the spike, then shift back โ€” Frenzied Regeneration is available here to self-top.
Renewal~90s, instant
Instantly heals you for ~30% of max health in any form. Your panic self-heal โ€” it's off the healing GCD-feel and works while shifted, so press it the moment you dip low.
Frenzied RegenerationBear Form
A Bear Form self-heal over a few seconds, off the GCD. Shift to Bear on a physical spike and Frenzied Regen to claw your own health back, then shift out to resume healing.
Cenarion Ward~30s
Pre-cast on yourself before a known hit: it sits dormant, then bursts into a strong HoT the instant you take damage. Cheap, pre-emptive personal smoothing on a short cooldown.

๐Ÿงฐ Utility & Crowd Control

AbilityUse
Nature's CureDispel โ€” removes Magic, Curse and Poison from allies. Your key affix/mechanic dispel. Click-cast it.
SootheEnrage removal off hostile targets (no hard interrupt for Resto โ€” you have no kick).
RebirthCombat resurrection (battle rez). Coordinate charges with the group.
Ursol's VortexAoE pull-in / displacement zone โ€” group mobs or deny movement through a chokepoint.
TyphoonFrontal knockback + daze โ€” disrupt casts (e.g. Ascendant orbs) or peel a pack.
Mass Entanglement / Entangling RootsAoE / single-target root for kiting and add control.
CycloneSingle-target banish โ€” fully removes a dangerous mob from the fight briefly.
Incapacitating Roar / Mighty BashAoE incap / single-target stun (talented) โ€” affix and add control.
Stampeding RoarGroup-wide movement-speed burst (Bear/Cat) โ€” beat soft enrages and spread/stack timers.
IronbarkExternal -20% damage taken on an ally for 12s โ€” tank busters and spot saves.
Barkskin / Bear FormPersonal defensives โ€” Barkskin -20% taken (off GCD), Bear Form for an emergency armor/HP wall.

๐Ÿ“Š Stat Priority

Raid: Intellect > Haste > Mastery > Versatility > Critical Strike.

Mythic+: Intellect > Mastery > Haste > Versatility > Critical Strike.

  • Intellect - by far your strongest stat; take the highest item level in every slot (outside trinkets/tier).
  • Haste - faster casts and faster HoT ticks; the top secondary for raid where coverage and ramp speed matter most.
  • Mastery: Harmony - increases your healing to any target that has at least one of your HoTs, scaling per active HoT. Since M+ healing is almost entirely HoT-driven, Mastery edges ahead there.
  • Versatility - flat healing/damage plus a little damage reduction. Solid but never the priority.
  • Critical Strike - the dump stat. Abundance already pushes Regrowth to ~100% crit, so extra Crit rating is largely wasted โ€” every other secondary out-values it.
๐Ÿ“Š Haste and Mastery are close; the same gear set performs well in both raid and M+, so don't keep two sets โ€” just favor Haste/Mastery itemization.

๐ŸŽ Tier Set, Trinkets & Consumables

Tier set โ€” Sprouts of the Luminous Bloom (via Catalyst): 2pc = Wild Growth healing +25%. 4pc = Wild Growth cooldown -2s and mana cost -10%. The set doesn't change your gameplay โ€” it just rewards the Wild Growth you already cast, so build around pressing it on cooldown.

Top trinkets (raid): Gaze of the Alnseer (Mastery + strong primary-stat procs), Locus-Walker's Ribbon (stacking Intellect โ€” best on long single-target fights), Vaelgor's Final Stare (on-use). M+ alts: Heart of Wind, Emerald Coach's Whistle, Volatile Void Suffuser.

Gearing rule: equip the highest item level everywhere except trinkets/tier, preferring Haste/Mastery pieces. Sporefused gear from Sporefall (Rotmire) bumps your baseline item level โ€” grab it.

Consumables: Flask of the Shattered Sun ยท Combat potion Light's Potential ยท Food Hearty Silvermoon Parade / Royal Roast ยท Void-Touched Augment Rune ยท Thalassian Phoenix Oil (weapon oil). Gems: Indecipherable Eversong Diamond (meta) + Intellect-priority cuts, secondaries in Haste/Mastery (e.g. Flawless Quick / Versatile cuts). Note: cloak and bracer have no enchants this expansion; gem and enchant the rest for Intellect/Haste/Mastery.

๐Ÿ“ก The live panel above shows what the current top-50 Resto Druids are actually equipping โ€” trust that over static BiS when they disagree.

๐Ÿ—๏ธ Mythic+ Tips

  • Pre-HoT before every pull: drop a few Rejuvenations + Efflorescence on the way in so the first hits are already covered โ€” you cannot out-react M+ burst without a bed.
  • Keep Efflorescence under the melee stack and Lifebloom on the tank; let passive HoT + Mastery carry the steady damage so you can free-cast damage.
  • Wildstalker is the recommended M+ tree โ€” its Symbiotic Blooms gives concentrated single-target healing and bigger heal-taken on the focus target without needing to catweave.
  • Save Tranquility / Convoke / Incarnation for the big scripted pulls; ramp Rejuvenations a few seconds before they land.
  • Affixes โ€” Ascendant: Typhoon or Incapacitating Roar to interrupt the orb casts. Devour: Nature's Cure the debuff off allies (and shift forms to self-dispel). Pulsar: make sure players rotate through each other's orbs within ~15s. Voidbound: chip in DoTs/damage to help break it.
  • When healing is light, do real damage โ€” Sunfire/Moonfire + Wrath, or Catweave for top numbers. Resto's M+ value is as much its damage as its healing.

โŒจ๏ธ Macros & Addons

WeakAuras is not supported in Midnight (12.0) โ€” use Blizzard's built-in Cooldown Manager (importable configs on Wago.io). Addons: ElvUI, DBM/BigWigs, GTFO, and a click-cast frame addon (Cell / Grid + Clique or VuhDo) for mouseover HoTs and dispels. Click-casting is essentially mandatory for Resto.

๐Ÿšซ Common Mistakes

  • Ramping too late โ€” firing Tranquility/Convoke on a near-empty HoT board. Spread Rejuvenations FIRST so the cooldowns extend a full bed.
  • Reactive Regrowth spam โ€” treating Resto like a burst healer. It's expensive and inefficient; pre-HoT and let the green tick.
  • Overhealing instead of damaging โ€” when the raid is topped you should be casting Wrath/Moonfire or catweaving, not refreshing full health bars.
  • Letting Efflorescence or Lifebloom drop โ€” your two highest-value maintenance buffs; losing them quietly tanks your throughput and Mastery.
  • Holding Innervate / Incarnation for 'the perfect moment' โ€” use them early and often, lined up with ramps; a banked cooldown heals nobody.
  • Forgetting you have no interrupt โ€” plan Typhoon / Ursol's Vortex / Incapacitating Roar for casts; don't expect a kick you don't have.
  • Burning Nature's Swiftness on cooldown โ€” it's your only instant; save it for a real single-target near-death.
