🛡️ Identity
Created by Neltharion as elite draconic soldiers and sealed away for millennia, the dracthyr awoke in the modern age to find their maker gone and the world changed. Blending humanoid and dragon, they shift between a winged Dracthyr form and a humanoid Visage at will. Born of every dragonflight's magic, they choose their own path — and their own faction — when they emerge from the Forbidden Reach.
Faction: Neutral (choose Alliance or Horde) · Starting zone: Forbidden Reach (faction chosen during the starting experience)
⚔️ Racial Abilities
- Wing Buffet — With a powerful flap of your wings, knock away enemies in front of you — a built-in frontal knockback any spec can use to create space or peel. (3 min cooldown)
- Tail Swipe — Sweep your tail to knock away enemies behind you. An Evoker-only knockback that complements Wing Buffet for full-circle disruption. (3 min cooldown)
- Visage — Switch between your Dracthyr battle form and a humanoid Visage form. Purely cosmetic, with no effect on combat performance. (Passive)
- Glide — Reduces your falling speed; activate with the jump key while falling to glide safely down from heights. (Passive)
- Soar — Launch into the air and take flight, providing fast self-mobility for traversal and Skyriding-style movement. (Short cooldown)
📈 Min-Max Analysis
- Raid — Dracthyr bring no throughput secondary-stat racial, so their raid value is utility: Wing Buffet (and, for Evokers, Tail Swipe) can reposition or knock back adds, and Glide/Soar smooth out traversal. As the only race that can play Evoker, Dracthyr are effectively mandatory if you want that class.
- Mythic+ — The knockback racials can be situationally strong in Mythic+ for grouping or repositioning trash, though they must be used carefully so they don't scatter packs your group wants stacked. Mobility from Glide and Soar helps with skips and pulls.
- PvP — Wing Buffet is a free knockback to peel for a healer, interrupt a channel by displacement, or create distance — a real defensive tool. Evoker dracthyr add Tail Swipe for a second knockback. The lack of an anti-stun or secondary-stat racial is the trade-off.
⭐ Best for: The only race able to roll an Evoker, so it is the default for that class. Beyond Evoker, Dracthyr are a utility/mobility pick whose knockbacks shine in PvP and situational Mythic+ repositioning rather than raw raid output.
